VOLUNTEER! – Participants in last year’s #1community1heart event helped their neighbors in many ways. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10. Join a team a help your neighbors!

The fourth annual #1heart1community event is scheduled to take place Saturday, Sept. 10. The event, which has grown every year since its inception, brings together Benton County citizens to complete projects that will better the community. Examples of past projects include lawn and maintenance work on individual homes, free car washes, and water and milk giveaways.

“I had been on two previous mission trips in different states, and it seemed like we were serving the same kind of people and circumstances that we have right here in Benton County,” explained organizer Karen Hudson. “I believe God planted in my heart the idea to have a local mission project day in Benton County to show our love for each other and build relationships. I believe that this event has truly blessed many.”

Volunteers for the project are encouraged to meet at 8 a.m. on Sept. 10 at the Apex Community Room at the bank’s location on Hwy. 641 in Camden. Volunteers will then split into teams and head towards their respective projects after a prayer. Projects typically last 2-3 hours. Apex Bank will serve a hot meal to volunteers from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

“The joy of being able to help someone else makes all the work worth it,” said Hudson. “If you need more information on the event, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Chances are you already have a friend who has participated in the past, so come out and join us as we serve the community.”
